The Budget Office has a full-time career opportunity for a Financial Analyst. Reporting to the Direct Budget Manager, this position will provide financial support at an institutional level and is responsible for the execution of a range of financial processes, reporting and analytical functions to meet Laboratory funds control, budget formulation and execution objectives (approx. $500M annual base).

There are multiple openings for this position.The actual position offered will depend on the candidates level of skills, knowledge and experience.

Senior Financial Analyst: Salary Range $ 68,652 - $94,404 /yr
General Financial Analyst: Salary Range $ 54,924 - $75,516 /yr

Duties
As part of the Budget Office team of Financial Analysts, this position is responsible for:
• Producing various recurring financial reports, reconciliations and graphics
• Providing timely identification of possible funds control issues and deviations from funding projections
• Maintaining intra-Laboratory databases and financial systems to assure reporting consistency
• Coordinating data collection and consolidation with scientific operating division resource analysts in response to various data calls
• Understanding and applying knowledge of Laboratory, DOE and various sponsor policies in day to day activity
• Working on special projects and serving on institutional initiative teams

In addition to the duties of the General Financial Analyst, the Senior Financial Analyst will support a range of more complex analytical and reporting requirements that include non standard ad hoc analysis in a quick turnaround time. The Senior Analyst will be expected to work with the scientific and operating division resource analysts to provide information and advice on various policies and procedures. The Senior Analyst will also be required to independently analyze and make recommendations for solutions to funding issues.

Qualifications
Required -
• Requires Bachelors degree in Business or Economics and minimum of two years of related financial experience in a multidivisional organization
• Standard knowledge of basic accounting and budgeting principles including GAAP and the ability to apply theories and concepts to computer spreadsheet and report generation applications
• Experience with Microsoft applications and standard knowledge of Excel
• Ability to produce accurate and timely financial reports
• Possess organizational skills and the ability to multitask
• Clear and concise written and verbal communication skill

Preferred -
MBA or MBA candidate strongly preferred. Working knowledge of Peoplesoft financial applications a plus. Knowledge of Federal processes and exposure to Federal Cost Accounting Standards.

In addition the qualifications for the General Analyst, the Senior Financial Analyst will have: a minimum of 4 - 6 years experience, substantial knowledge of Excel, spreadsheets and financial databases, ability to independently perform complex financial analysis in an accurate and timely manner, experienced in creating effective reports, recommendations and presentations, ability to interact with a broad range of customers.
